Writing your Exams from Home

Registration Deadline

Note that the registration deadline is June 19th at noon ET to register for the August 2020 exams with the National Committee on Accreditation.

Online Exams

The NCA recently announcedthat they will be proceeding with an online exam format. This will be the format going forward until they announce in person exams.

This is great news for canadidates located in other countries that do not have testing centres. So long as you have a stable internet connection, you can write these exams from the comfort of your home without having to fly to Canada or one of the other official approved writing centres.

When you register for your exams, there will be a drop-down menu in your portal asking you to select which testing centre you wish to write your exam in. You can select whichever location, but I would keep in mind the time differences. BC exams are held at a different them than the ON exams and I presume that the online testing will follow the same testing hours as before.

Typing is a Huge Advantage

For years, students have requested to write their exams electronically so that they can type out their answers. Those requests have always been shut down (unless you had special accommodations as a result of a disability). For many, typing is much quicker and easier than handwriting, where many people feel their writing becomes ilegible while they're trying to rush to scrible down their answers. Typing out answers means you can add or delete sentences with ease, and this is a huge advantage over hand-written exams.
